I have always enjoyed attending the Salesforce World Tour events over the years. Our sponsorships at these events has taken Apps Associates around the country to cities like Washington D.C., New York, and Boston giving me and my colleagues opportunities to have productive face-to-face discussions with people just as passionate about Salesforce as us.

Thousands of people attend these events so it is not practical to meet everyone. We did the next best thing and took the opportunity to send a survey to attendees asking them to identify the biggest challenge they face with Salesforce. Here are the results.

These are interesting results and you may even see yourself facing these challenges too. But how do you overcome these challenges? Simply implementing a cloud application or solution will not magically solve your problems. There are innumerable factors to consider beforehand.

Start with Strategy and Adoption

Implementing best practices right from the very beginning for processes, design & architecture, and user adoption may cause a little pain in the beginning, but it will save you headaches down the road after you go-live.

Establishing a governance structure for processes, design, maintenance and support, will result in a process of continuous improvement where reviews are established that will identify when it is necessary to take corrective actions.

Knowing how to integrate Salesforce with other enterprise applications can be a slippery slope if you lack the right resources or know-how. We’re tops with that as we have partnerships with Salesforce, Dell Boomi, Mulesoft, Oracle and Amazon Web Services.

Finally, how are you going to manage your Salesforce environment? What if something breaks or enhancements are required? Just because something exists in the cloud doesn’t mean it’s maintenance-free.
