August 23, 2016 - Apps Associates Serves Up Tennis for Fun and for Charity

Apps AssociatesTennis TournamentIt was all action and fun at the Apps 8th Annual Tennis Tournament held on July 23rd. Apps Associates’ Vice President Srini Samy and Vice President Ajay Kapur organized this year’s event held at the WestFit Club in Westford, Massachusetts. All tournament players look forward to this annual event because it’s a chance for Apps Associates’ employees to socialize outside of work for some friendly, but seriously competitive, tennis matches. In all, 14 employees participated in this year’s tournament.

Not to miss out on the camaraderie were Apps Associates’ CEO and founder Sridhar Bogelli, Vice President Ajay Kapur, and Director Ashwin Hande who participated in the tournament. Players competed in singles and doubles play and spent the morning vigorously playing elimination rounds until the final tournament round was reached.  Kiranlal Mood emerged the victor over VP Ajay Kapur in the final singles round, and VP Ajay Kapur with teammate Dilip Pelala emerged victorious over Deb Banerjee and his teammate Director Ashwin Hande in the doubles tournament. Congratulations to the victors!

When the first tournament was held years ago, everyone was a novice tennis player. So when they realized this was going to be an annual event, everyone made it a point to regularly practice over the course of the following year to be better prepared for the next tournament. Every year since, as the participants became more experienced and skilled players, the games naturally became more competitive.

Don’t take my word for it, check out our Facebook photo album for the event and see what a blast everyone had playing!

A few of these folks enjoy playing tennis so much, they began participating in a local tennis league called Boston Tennis Friends and they became league champions last year. This league also holds an annual tournament but its purpose is to raise funds for charity. This year’s tournament was held on August 13th and the proceeds benefited the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
